For this week's *featured student* meet Daniel Vetter from our 2019 cohort:
Daniel Vetter is a second year Dual-MA student in Spanish and MACIE. After doing 1 year of the Spanish MA on campus and another semester abroad in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, he will be finishing MACIE coursework and plans to graduate December 2020.
Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Daniel studied International Studies, Development Economics and Spanish at Ohio State University ('12), and soon after joined the Peace Corps where he served as a Teaching English volunteer in Panamá from 2013-2015. After a couple years of backpacking and exploring in Central America, learning about textiles from indigenous weavers in Guatemala and leading experiential backpacking trips there for 6 months, he decided to return home to NW Ohio and attend BGSU for graduate school as a Peace Corps Coverdell Fellow. He hopes that through his experience with MACIE, and while teaching Spanish at the University, he can share some of his amazing experiences from Latin America with his fellow students, colleagues and professors. After graduation, Daniel plans to find an opportunity to work in the field of bilingual education, hopefully in a local school initially, and perhaps eventually returning abroad to teach, travel and pursue his interests in experiential education, conscious tourism, and social entrepreneurship. #peacecorps #travel #internationaleducation #rpcv #panama #macieprogramatbgsu #spanish #bilingual #tefl #gradschool #crosscultural #ohio #coverdellfellows
